I'm not a tidy gardener, I don't cut back in Autumn but leave the perennials until Spring. What a reward we had this morning - four bullfinches greedily devouring seeds in the front garden.
Yesterday? Four pheasants! Two pairs.
Very pleased to see they have all got partners now. I'll even forgive Mrs. Percy for making me jump out of my skin when I was putting out mealworms earlier today, she was under a shrub on the patio and .......... whooooooooosh, out she shot.. DH wondered who frightened who the most!
Bad weather is a good excuse for hunkering down with some crochet. Those hearts I showed you last time have gone to new homes, to people who needed a little love and another has gone as a birthday gift. Have you made any yet? Be warned, they are seriously addictive.
Have you seen the new magazine? Simply Crochet by the same company as Mollie Makes.
I treated myself to the first issue today. I am so glad I did, lots of patterns to tempt.
Spoilt for choice!
While it is still looking like this outside
I'm looking forward to Spring and all its glorious scents
and stunning colours
Meanwhile, before I choose a pattern from the new magazine, I have a ripple blanket to make for our great grandaughter, due in March. Instead of pink or white, I've decided to go bright.
Hope you are keeping safe and warm.
Carol xx

There you go - the perfect reason to NOT do too much garden tidying in autumn! I knew there was a reason I rarely do it! What a pleasure to have such visitors. Your crochet ripples look lovely!

I've really enjoyed reading this post. It's got a little bit of everything with lovely pictures. Love the colours in your ripple.
Love from Mum

Carol you are so clever to have captured these pictures. I never have my camera handy. I keep looking at my garden but it's tooooo cold!

How nice to see all of your birds! I love that you named that hen. Your frozen trees look so pretty but I can see why you would be looking forward to spring. Brrr! Stay warm. :)
HI Carol, this post was a feast to my eyes!! Your house looks lovely.
Beautiful pictures of birds! I used to love bird watching when I was a child in my parents' garden! You've brought it all back to me. We get to see pheasants strolling around the vineyards in autumn. Their colours blend perfectly with the foliage.
Happy days.

Beautiful post! I love the visitors you've had. A very good reason NOT to tidy the garden in the fall to be sure. And I feel the same about winter. I am so ready for it to be over. We haven't been above freezing or well over a week now. I'm eagerly waiting for camping weather.
Blessings,
Betsy
Great birdie photographs. Do you know I think I may prefer pheasants to chickens. For now my chickens are like a 'synthetic' pheasant substitute. They do brighten up my garden. Currently I have four or maybe more male blackbirds all battling it out in my small garden. I do wish they would save their energy. I find it quite expensive to feed the birds at this time of year and just do what I can with scraps. You know I felt so lucky to receive one of those beautiful hearts...it was so timely...It has gone straight up on the wall in a prominent position and it has made me feel 'universally' loved and has given me strenght. I love it and I love you xxx
Great granddaughter? wow! You were a child bride obviously!
I'm also wowed by your birds in your garden, what a treat you have! The magazine looks interesting, I'm still knitting my cushion cover at the moment and think I might do some crocheting again when I've finished. Keep warm Carol. :)

Hi Carol, I popped over for a visit from Sandy's blog, Teacup Lane, and like what I see. Love the pheasants and finches. Not sure where you live but you have quite a bit of snow. I really like your crocheted hearts. Have to look for the pattern. I am following you now. Stop by for a visit some time. xo
