Well the snow has certainly arrived here. Good or bad? Well if you have to slip and slide yourself to work or have a "meet" with a best buddy cancelled, well that is bad. However, if you want a good excuse to stay in, keep warm and grab your crochet hook then that is very good!
The garden looks like this
DH has been out clearing some of the paths and the drive.
Not as many Goldfinches as in previous years but this one was filling his boots yesterday!
A chunky Chaffinch was finding plenty to eat
and one of our resident Robins has realised you need to adapt and to learn if you want to get some of the best food.
Whilst the Thrush knows what he likes and, luckily for him, the blackbirds haven't eaten all the berries.
I've been making progress on my new ripple.
What do you think of the colour combinations? I think I quite like it.
A warm welcome to my new followers Barbara of "Two Birdies and a B", I will be popping over to your blog and also to Jennifer of Thistlebear blog. I was visiting Jennifer (and I recommend you do too) and was reminded that I had forgotten to photograph my large Granny square, probably because as soon as I finished it DH claimed it for the back of his chair.
The photo doesn't really do it justice, it needed better light but if you are familiar with Stylecraft Special DK then I think you will recognise most of the colours.
I know some of you have been out enjoying the snow, you've been walking, you've been building snowmen and you have been sledging, there have been wonderful happy photos. I hope you continue to have fun but stay safe and keep warm.
Until the next time.

Fab post Carol with all your birds. We have even had a pheasant under our bird table this week but he flew away before I could snap him. Why not link one of you happy snaps to my Friday's smiley blog to share with others to give them a smile too....after all we can't have too many smiles can we?
Hugs,
A x
Your bird photos are lovely.
Carol, thanks for the warm welcome. I like your idea of staying in where it is warm and cozy and doing some crochet. I do love your bird photos. xo
Your part of the world looks like my part of the world! All white! Gorgeous bird photos and your crochet colors are beautiful. Stay warm! :-)
Blessings,
Betsy
I'm very envious of the birds you have in your garden! I don't know where they've all gone in mine but I've been putting food out. :)
It's strange when I see a picture of someone else's 'Granny Square' blanket, it looks so familiar. :) I love making them but I need an excuse to make yet another...or maybe I'll just make one anyway, goodness knows I need them in this weather!xx
Hi Carol! Thank you for the welcome and for the mention on your blog. Your ripple is beautiful! I love the colors you're using. It looks great with your giant granny too. You really did get a lot of snow where you live - stay warm!
Amazing piccies of the birds - the thrush is stunningly beautiful - you did so well to get that.
Love your colours in the ripply blanket - gorgeous.
Love the photos of the birds, ours have been busy feeding too and fat scraps and bacon fat have kept the starlings and magpies happy.. but aren't those magpies greedy they load up their beaks, fly off and keep coming back.. Nell loves them too as they drop bits and she scavenges! Thats why we can't hang fat balls, it makes her very ill as she too is a greedy one!
And the crochet is gorgeous and the colour combination perfect.
Well done, happy hooking1
